Woman Climbs Tower in Ludhiana After Husband’s Alleged Second Marriage; 8-Hour Drama Ends

In the village of Bagga Kalan, which comes under Ludhiana’s Ladowal police station, there was a commotion on Wednesday morning when a woman, upset with her husband’s second wife, climbed a 220-foot-high mobile tower. The woman stayed on the tower for about 8 hours, keeping her family and the police standing below on edge.

The woman clearly stated that she wouldn’t come down until legal action was taken against her husband and she was brought to the spot. As soon as they got the news, the Ladowal police team reached the spot with reinforcements. After a lot of effort and assuring her that her husband would be dealt with, the woman was safely brought down around 2:50 PM.

Got married again without divorcing, beat up when opposed

The woman who climbed the tower has been identified as Gamgami Devi. Gamgami Devi alleges that her husband, Paltu Mandal, who is a driver by profession, married another woman named Sona Devi (changed name Sunali Devi) without divorcing her.

The victim said that Sona Devi’s first husband, Rakesh Kumar, works at a dairy, and Sona left her first husband and family about a year ago.

Both wives were living in the same house but in separate rooms.
According to the victim, driver Paltu Mandal was keeping both his wives in the same house. When Gamgami Devi opposed this and refused to live with the co-wife, her husband beat her. Frustrated by her husband’s cruelty and the lack of police action, she took this step.

High-voltage drama lasted from 7 AM to 2:50 PM

According to the police, Gamgami Devi had climbed the 220-foot-high mobile tower around 7 in the morning. Seeing a woman at such a height left the villagers shocked, and they immediately informed the police. The woman kept shouting that they should first bring her family (husband) here, only then she would come down. Finally, relying on the police’s quick thinking and solid action, she was brought down at 2:50 PM.

Inspecting officer Thandaar Major Singh said that the police received information in the morning that a woman had climbed a tower in Bagga Kalan. The police reached the spot, managed the situation, and safely brought down the woman (Gamgami Devi). The accused husband, Paltu Mandal, has been caught by the police and is being taken into custody and brought to Ladowal police station.
