Ludhiana: Truck-Bike collision, Two brothers among three dead

In Ludhiana, Punjab, three young men on a motorcycle were hit by a truck on the Kali Sadak highway near Basti Jodhewal Chowk last night. The truck driver fled the scene. All three young men sustained serious injuries in the accident. Two brothers died, and their friend was critically injured with a severe head injury.

A passerby, seeing the blood-soaked men lying on the road, informed the police control room. Police from Basti Jodhewal police station arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. The police provided first aid to the injured men.

Both men died before reaching the hospital.

The police put one of the injured men in an ambulance, while, out of compassion, they took the other two in their own vehicle to the civil hospital to try and save their lives. However, both men succumbed to their injuries. The two deceased men were brothers. They have four sisters. The injured man, Manoj, suffered a complete fracture of his leg bone, and a piece of his skull fractured and entered his brain.

His condition remained critical at the civil hospital until midnight. The deceased men were identified as Damodar Kumar (21) and Shivmohan Kumar (28). Their friend’s name is Manoj Kumar (27), a resident of Azad Nagar. The bodies of the deceased were placed in the civil hospital’s mortuary at 11:45 PM.

Police are searching for the truck driver using CCTV footage.

Giving details, ASI Jaspal Singh said that they received information about the accident from the control room. When they brought the injured to the civil hospital, Damodar and Shiv Mohan had already passed away. Both men were brothers and residents of Kali Sadak. A case will be registered against the unknown truck driver after checking the CCTV footage.
