Ludhiana: Police arrested Ankur, the accused in the shooting incident at the Bath Castle Marriage Palace on Pakhowal Road in Ludhiana, Punjab, on November 30. Ankur’s confession has exposed the claims of groom Varinder Kapoor.
Varinder Kapoor had stated that he had not invited any criminals to his wedding on November 30th, during a clash between Ankur and Shubham Mota gangs that resulted in the death of two guests. Accused Ankur admitted during interrogation that he had received the invitation card and a box of sweets from the groom.
Groom’s Statement Contradicted by Accused
Accused Ankur told police during interrogation that the groom, Varinder Kapoor, personally invited him to the wedding and reception, and that the invitation card is still at his home. Ankur said the groom is now lying to save his life. Police also reported that Shubham Mota was also invited by the groom.
It’s worth noting that two guests—Vasu Chopra and Neeru Chhabra, the groom’s aunt—were shot dead in the clash. Another man, Jatinder Kumar Dabar, a named accused in the FIR from Ankur’s group, was also shot. Dabar is accused of using his licensed weapon and firing shots during the clash.
The main accused, Shubham, is still absconding.
Police have already arrested nine accused in the clashes, while the main accused, Shubham Mota, remains at large. Mota is considered the main suspect in the case and is currently facing approximately 16 criminal charges.
Shubham has close ties with politicians
It has been revealed that Shubham has close ties with some senior politicians and was often seen posing for photographs with them and other prominent figures in the city. The groom has also been accused in the case of inviting criminal elements. Sources have confirmed that some politicians sheltered these gangsters.
Police are raiding the hideouts of suspects
Early in the case, these politicians attempted to contact senior police officials to advocate for the accused, but senior police officers have made it clear to these politicians that the accused had murdered two innocent guests and deserved no mercy. Police teams are already raiding suspected hideouts of the accused in Punjab and other states.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma is closely monitoring the case. He has given clear instructions to the police that two innocent people have been murdered, so the accused will not be spared.
