Major action by Haryana ACB: Bhiwani Patwari arrested accepting Rs 10,000 bribe

In a major crackdown on corruption in Bhiwani district, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Patwari red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. The accused Patwari was taking the bribe in exchange for facilitating crop compensation for a farmer. An ACB team apprehended the accused after laying a trap in the presence of a duty magistrate.

Demand was ₹15,000; deal settled at ₹10,000
According to reports, Harsh Chhabra, a Patwari posted in Gujarani village (Bhiwani), had demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 from a local farmer, Manjeet, to process his crop compensation claim.

Instead of outright refusing to pay the bribe, the complainant, Manjeet, negotiated the amount, and a deal was eventually struck at ₹10,000. Manjeet then immediately reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Following the arrest with the bribe money, the ACB team has registered a case against Patwari Harsh Chhabra under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The police and ACB are now conducting further legal proceedings and questioning regarding the case.
