Major Action by Haryana Police: Newborn Trafficking Racket Busted; Three Accused Arrested

A newborn trafficking ring has been busted. In connection with this case, three accused individuals—including one woman—have been arrested, while the ringleader remains at large. According to the police, the gang consists of a total of five members.

A three-day-old newborn infant was recovered from the possession of the traffickers. Additionally, two vehicles belonging to the accused, along with relevant documents, have been seized.

Police investigations revealed that the accused had planned to procure the newborn from Faridkot, Punjab, and sell the child to a childless couple in Delhi. They had purchased the infant for ₹2.25 lakh and had finalized a deal to sell the child for ₹9.25 lakh.

The gang targeted childless couples through pages on Facebook and Instagram. Among the arrested individuals, Salim and Akhil are residents of Ghaziabad, while the female accused, Beant Kaur, hails from Muktsar, Punjab.

Salim runs a grocery store, while Akhil operates a CSC (Common Service Center). Both the wife of the gang’s ringleader and the daughter of the arrested female accused work as nurses.

The police disclosed that this gang has been involved in trafficking newborns across a wide region, extending from Punjab to Maharashtra. So far, the gang’s involvement in five such criminal incidents has been uncovered.

The accused will be taken into police custody for further interrogation. Legal action will also be initiated against other individuals involved in the buying and selling of these newborns. DCP Mayank Mishra stated that illegal adoption constitutes a grave offense, and strict action will be taken against those involved in the trafficking of newborn infants.
