Major attack on drug abuse in Jalandhar: 34 kg of heroin and lakhs of narcotic pills destroyed by burning

The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, in a major operation as part of the drug-free campaign, destroyed 34 kg 544 grams of heroin, 1 lakh 5 thousand 930 narcotic pills, and 4,272 capsules. Following the rules set out under the NDPS Act, all these drugs were burned in a high-tech furnace.

Operation under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee

The entire operation was carried out in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee. Police officials stated that all the seized drugs were matched with records and the entire process was videotaped.

After completing the court order and legal procedures, these drugs were safely destroyed. Police say this will also reduce the burden of confiscated goods in police stations and storehouses.

Major blow to the smuggling network

The destroyed heroin is estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the international market. According to the police, these drugs were recovered during raids and blockades in various cases.

More than 100,000 narcotic pills and thousands of capsules were often sold illegally to addict young people. This action has caused a significant financial loss to the drug smuggling network.

Appeal for public cooperation

The Police Commissioner stated that the campaign against drugs will continue and strict measures will be taken to make the city completely drug-free.

He appealed to the public to immediately inform the police if they see anyone selling or smuggling drugs nearby. The police believe that publicly destroying drugs in this manner sends a message to society that the law will not tolerate the drug trade.
