35 major decisions of the UP Cabinet: Land use eased, wheat MSP increased, Gorakhpur to become a solar city

In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, 35 out of 37 proposals were approved.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna stated that the process for changing land use has been simplified. Previously, land use changes were required under Section 80, but now only a map approved will be considered a land use change.

This decision will facilitate investors and the public in converting land to residential use. To this end, the UP Revenue Code 2006 Amendment Ordinance 2026 has been approved.

Relief for farmers: Wheat MSP increased
In a major relief to farmers, the government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat by ₹160 per quintal.

Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi announced that wheat procurement will take place in the state from March 30th to June 15th, and 6,500 procurement centers have been set up for this purpose.

The MSP for wheat has now been fixed at ₹2,585 per quintal, up from ₹2,425 last year. The procurement target is 5 million metric tons.

Registration portals have been opened to eliminate middlemen, and the procurement process will be conducted through agencies such as the FCI, UP Mandi Parishad, PCF, PCU, UPSS, NAFED, and NCCF.

Major steps in the urban development and energy sector

The Cabinet has approved the development of Gorakhpur as a solar city. A 20-megawatt floating solar plant will be installed by Coal India Limited in Chiluataal.

In addition, the “Navyug Palika Yojana” has been approved to modernize municipalities in 58 districts, with a budget of ₹145 crore.

The Ghatampur Power Plant’s third 660 MW unit has also been approved.

Infrastructure and Investment Boost
The government has approved ₹2242.90 crore for a coal block in Jharkhand, which will provide cheaper coal to the Ghatampur plant and reduce electricity costs by ₹1 per unit.

A 10,000-capacity convention center will be built in Lucknow at a cost of ₹1435.25 crore.

A flyover will be constructed at Dubagga on the Lucknow-Hardoi road at a cost of ₹305.31 crore, reducing traffic congestion.

Private investors will be given land for a business park, the price of which will be repaid in installments over 45 years.

Other Major Projects Approved
Several other development projects in the state also received the green light, including:

A 9.40 km four-lane road in Siddharthnagar (₹261.49 crore)
A religious pilgrimage route in Sambhal (₹300.10 crore)
A railway overbridge in Balrampur (₹292.21 crore)
Land allocation for a 100-bed critical care unit in Lalitpur
A sugar mill expansion in Baghpat (₹372 crore)

CM’s Instructions to Ministers
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed ministers not to limit themselves to Lucknow or their constituencies, but to visit districts to review projects and interact with the public.

Expressing concern over the shortage in voter lists, he urged MLAs to increase the registration of new voters.

He also directed ministers to personally monitor the availability of gas and fertilizers.

During the meeting, the CM said in a light tone that when Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh arrives, it seems as if everyone has arrived.
