Kolkata, April 22: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has issued a strong warning about the possibility of “false voting” and urged citizens to remain vigilant on polling day to ensure that elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

Voters urged to stay alert, report irregularities

Addressing party workers and supporters, Banerjee stressed that safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process is a collective responsibility. She called on voters to remain alert at polling booths and report any suspicious activity or irregularities to election officials without delay. According to her, public awareness and participation play a key role in preventing malpractice.

Officials urged to ensure neutrality and fair polling

The Chief Minister also urged polling personnel and security forces to carry out their duties with complete neutrality and professionalism. She emphasised that strict adherence to election guidelines is necessary to maintain transparency and public trust in the democratic system.

Heightened political activity as security tightened ahead of polling

Banerjee’s remarks come at a time of heightened political activity in the state, with parties intensifying their campaigns ahead of polling. Security arrangements have been strengthened across sensitive areas, and authorities have assured that adequate measures are in place to prevent any untoward incidents.

Reiterating her appeal, Banerjee said that every vote matters and should reflect the true will of the people. She encouraged citizens to come out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights while staying alert against any attempts to manipulate the process.

Her call for vigilance underscores the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring that elections remain fair, transparent, and credible.
