Man sells ex-wife’s 16-day old child for Drugs

In Jalandhar, a man sold his divorced wife’s 16-day-old baby to fund his addiction to ‘Chitta’ (synthetic drugs). He sold the infant for ₹5 lakh to a woman from Amritsar. When the baby would not stop crying, the woman called him, stating she could not manage the child and asking him to return the money and take the baby back.

Meanwhile, the ex-husband, who had sold the baby, even posted an Instagram story showing stacks of cash. As soon as the baby’s mother saw the story, he immediately deleted it. Subsequently, the accused ex-husband used the proceeds from the sale to purchase an LED TV, an air cooler, and other items.

When the mother asked the accused about the baby, he lied, claiming the child had died and had been buried. Furthermore, he threatened her, mentioning that he had bought a new pistol and warning her of consequences if she lodged a complaint. The mother noted that even her mother-in-law had not yet seen the baby.

Unable to locate the child, she was compelled to file a complaint with the Jalandhar Police Commissioner. The Commissioner has ordered the SHO of Rama Mandi to investigate the matter.

Shivani alleged that her ex-husband, Shiva, consumes and sells ‘chitta’ (synthetic drugs), and that his second wife is involved in the same activity. Four cases have been registered against her ex-husband at the Ramamandi police station. Shivani further alleged that after selling the child, her ex-husband threatened her, claiming he had acquired a new pistol and warning that he would kill her if she spoke to anyone about the matter.
