Man detained for threatening to shoot Rahul Gandhi in Rajasthan’s Kota

Jaipur: A man reportedly linked to the Karni Sena was detained in Kota, Rajasthan after a video surfaced in which he allegedly threatened to kill Congress Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

The video quickly went viral, prompting authorities to act immediately and launch an investigation. Raja Amera was taken into custody for questioning.

    Allegations and Police Response

In the video, Amera, identifying himself as a “Sanatani Hindu,” claimed he wanted India to become a Hindu nation. He referred to an incident in Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s chamber, blaming Rahul Gandhi for misconduct by 25 opposition MPs and threatening violence against their homes. He also said he was willing to go to jail for carrying out the threat.

Police confirmed that the video showed Amera associated with the Karni Sena and moved swiftly to detain him. During interrogation, Amera denied knowledge of the viral clip and alleged that a fake ID had been created in his name as part of a conspiracy by opposition parties.

    Political Reactions

The incident has intensified political debate in the state. Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara condemned the threats, calling them indicative of a “toxic mindset” reminiscent of Nathuram Godse, and accused BJP-RSS of fostering radical extremism by labeling dissent as “anti-national.”
