Manali Police Issue ₹3,500 Challan to Thar Vehicle for Fake Number Plate

Manali: Police in Manali, Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, issued a challan of ₹3,500 to a Thar vehicle for violating the Motor Vehicles Act. The action was taken after the vehicle’s license plate was found to have the words “Guman” written on it instead of the number plate.

The incident came to light in Manali when a black Thar was spotted roaming the streets. Investigation revealed that the vehicle owner had applied for a license plate, but instead of “Applied For,” he had written “Guman” on his number plate.

Police took action as per the rules

Manali DSP KD Sharma stated that the vehicle is registered in the name of Sukhvir Singh, a resident of Sangrur, Punjab. The vehicle number is “Applied For.” He added that using a name instead of a number is a violation of the rules, so the Manali police issued a challan as per the rules.

Strict warning issued to tourists

DSP Sharma said that tourists are welcome to visit Manali, but the police are keeping a close watch to maintain law and order. He clearly warned that strict action would be taken against those who violate the rules.
