Jalandhar (Punjab) : In a proactive move to streamline wheat procurement operations, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today convened a pivotal meeting with representatives of truck unions, SDMs, procurement agencies. Accompanied by SSP Ankur Gupta, the deputy commissioner emphasized the forthcoming arrival of wheat and stressed the need for swift procurement and lifting within the stipulated time frame.

Highlighting the critical role of stakeholders, Dr. Aggarwal urged SDMs, procurement agency officials, District Food Supply Controller (DFSC), and Mandi officers to personally oversee operations at Mandis and maintain vigilant supervision over the procurement process. With a target to procure 5.17 lakh metric tonnes from across 80 Mandis this season, procurement agencies have already procured a substantial amount. However, Dr. Aggarwal stressed the importance of maintaining momentum, noting that the next 10 days are crucial for ensuring seamless procurement. Dr. Aggarwal’s directives underscore the administration’s commitment to efficient and transparent procurement processes, ensuring timely payments to farmers and fulfilling the targeted procurement quota. He also asked the officials to pay special attention towards lifting so that farmers do not face any kind of problem in bringing their wheat to market.
 
Notably, the district has recorded progressive procurement of 72010 MT wheat while progressive procurement stands at 71720 MT.
 
The meeting saw the participation of key officials including ADC (G) Major Amit Mahajan, SDMs Amanpal Singh, Amanpreet Singh, Rishab Bansal, Balbir Raj, and Dr. Jai Inder Singh.
