Manipur: 27 bombs, arms and ammunition recovered; two militants held

Manipur : Central and state security forces have recovered 27 improvised bombs, arms, and ammunition and arrested two militants of a banned organization in joint operations in Manipur during the past 24 hours. Officials gave this information on Friday.

According to police, 27 improvised bombs were recovered near Mongalham village under the Thoubal Dam police station area of ​​Imphal East district. Security forces safely defused all the bombs. It is not yet clear who or which organization planted the bombs.

Huge cache of weapons seized, two militants arrested

In another operation, security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the Langdum Nungjengbi area of ​​Imphal East district. The seizure includes a locally manufactured .32 pistol, a 12-bore SBBL gun, a rifle, two .36 hand grenades, 135 rounds of various calibers, two lathod shells, four pompom shells, six magazines for various weapons, three detonators, four 7.62 mm charger clips, a tube launcher, and two Baofeng wireless radio sets.

In addition, security forces arrested two active cadres of the banned organization Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Thoubal district.

 Security tightened across the state, appeals to be cautious against rumors

Central and state security forces are continuously conducting search operations and area control operations in sensitive, border, and mixed-population areas of the state. 115 checkpoints and checkpoints have been set up across the state to restrict the movement of militants.

Security forces are also escorting vehicles carrying essential goods on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). Tight security and convoy protection measures are in place in sensitive areas.

Manipur Police have appealed to the public to be cautious of rumors and fake videos circulating on social media. Police warned that legal action will be taken for sharing unverified posts, videos, or audio clips. People have also been urged to immediately hand over looted weapons, ammunition, and explosives to the police or the nearest security forces.
