Manpreet Ayali resigns from Akali Dal Punar Surjit, says he will not join Delhi-based parties

Manpreet Ayali, leader of Akali Dal Punar Surjit in Punjab, has resigned from all party posts. He shared the news via video and posts on social media. Ayali stated that he would not even consider joining any “Delhi-based party” such as the BJP, Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, or the Badal Dal.

Referred to the Akal Takht Hukamnama

Ayali stated that he was included in the Shiromani Akali Dal’s Reorganization and Recruitment Committee following a Hukamnama issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on December 2, 2024. He claimed that the committee carried out the membership recruitment process with complete honesty, but the old leadership was unwilling to back down.

Questions raised on the old leadership

He said that the Sikh community and youth felt that leaders who had lost moral authority should step back for a while. However, this did not happen, leading to a distance between workers and supporters. Ayali alleged that his suggestions were ignored and his character was also maligned.

Attempts at Panthic Unity Failed

Manpreet Ayali said that his efforts were to bring all Panthic organizations together on one platform. He also talked about coordinating with other organizations, including ‘Waaris Punjab De’. However, this effort failed due to the old leadership’s refusal to step back.

He said that he would now take further decisions in accordance with the sentiments of Sikh intellectuals and the community, in order to serve the Panth and Punjab.
