Hyderabad, April 10: In a major development in Telangana’s anti-insurgency efforts, 41 Maoists, including members of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), surrendered before the state police. The surrender marks another significant step toward weakening Maoist presence in the region.

According to officials, the group included several active cadres linked to the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit and its armed wing, the PLGA. The surrender reflects growing pressure on Maoist networks and increasing acceptance of the government’s rehabilitation policies.
The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army is considered the military wing of the Maoist organization and has been involved in insurgency activities across central India.
Police officials described the surrender as a major success in ongoing operations against left-wing extremism. Over the past few months, Telangana has witnessed a series of surrenders, indicating a steady decline in Maoist strength.
Recent reports suggest that the Maoist organizational structure in Telangana has weakened significantly, with only a few active cadres remaining.
Authorities credited the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy for encouraging cadres to lay down arms. Benefits such as financial assistance, security, and reintegration support have played a key role in persuading Maoists to return to mainstream society.
