MARCOS Commando Critically Injured in Uri Rescue Ops

Srinagar: A marine commando of the Indian Navy’s MARCOS was critically injured during a rescue operation in the Jhelum River in Uri area of Baramulla on Tuesday and was shifted to an army hospital for treatment, officials said.

Rescue Operation Turns Critical

Officials said a joint rescue operation was launched after a woman from Uri reportedly jumped into the river from a wooden footbridge at Chandanwari. Teams from SDRF Baramulla and Civil Defence Unit, Uri, began search efforts, which were later reinforced by MARCOS personnel.

During the operation, one commando, identified as A.S. Badoria, slipped into the river and was swept away by the strong current for several minutes before being rescued by fellow team members. He sustained critical injuries and was initially unconscious before being shifted to Army Hospital, Boniyar.

Search for Missing Woman Continues

Meanwhile, rescue teams continue to search for the missing woman, scanning different stretches of the river in the Uri area.
