On Thursday, a married woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her parents’ home in Himmatpur Bajhera village, under the Mirhachi police station area of Etah. Police arrived at the scene, took the body into custody, sent it for a post-mortem examination, and have begun an investigation.
Sangita (21), a resident of Himmatpur Bajhera village, committed suicide by hanging herself inside her home on Thursday. When her family discovered her hanging, they were horrified. The body was taken down, placed on a cot, and Dial 112 police were informed.
Following the information, Mirhachi police, the Dial 112 team, and Sadar Circle Officer Sankalpdeep Singh arrived at the scene. Police completed a panchnama and sent the body to the district headquarters for a post-mortem examination. Her father, Rohan Lal, stated that Sangeeta was married to Neeraj, a resident of the Jalesar police station area, about two years ago.
A dispute had erupted between the two about a year after their marriage. Following this, Sangeeta had been living at her parents’ home for the past year. He said that he had gone to the farm at the time of the incident, and his daughter was alone at home.
He alleged that his son-in-law was an alcoholic and often harassed her, due to which she had been living at her parents’ house for a long time. Mirhachi police station in-charge Neetu Verma said that information about the incident was received through Dial 112.
A team from the field unit and dog squad also reached the spot along with the police and collected evidence from the scene. Prima facie, the case appears to be a suicide. Further action will be taken only after the post-mortem report is received.
