Married woman found dead under suspicious circumstances in Ludhiana; Mother alleges murder

A 27-year-old married woman has died under suspicious circumstances in Ludhiana. The woman’s body was found hanging. She had had a love marriage just 11 months ago. Late at night, the woman’s family from her maternal home approached the Jamalpur police station.

They have accused her husband of strangling her to death. The deceased woman has been identified as Bhavna (27), wife of Rahul Godara, a resident of New Guru Nanak Nagar, Jamalpur. The woman’s post-mortem will be conducted at the Civil Hospital today.

Mother says: The couple often fought

The woman’s mother, Pushp Lata, alleges that her daughter married Rahul in March 2025. After that, the couple frequently fought. She was often mentally harassed for dowry.

On Monday, her daughter’s father-in-law, Radheshyam, called and informed her that Bhavna had suffered a heart attack. At that time, he himself was in Haryana. Pushp Lata then went to Ludhiana to see her daughter. But upon reaching Ludhiana, she learned that her daughter had died by hanging.

Case registered at 10:30 PM

She then filed a complaint with the Jamalpur police station, accusing Bhavna’s husband, Rahul, of murder. A case was registered against the accused at the Jamalpur police station late at night, around 10:30 PM. The police have registered a case against the husband Rahul Godara, brother-in-law Rinku Godara, and brother-in-law Rohit Godara under sections 80 and 61(2) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).

Investigating officer Rohit said that the woman’s body has been kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. The actual cause of death will be revealed only after the report is received.
