Ghaziabad: A massive fire broke out in a multi-story residential building located in Avantika Colony, Phase-2, Ghaziabad, during which three pet dogs lost their lives due to asphyxiation.

During the incident, four members of the same family were trapped inside their flat, but were safely rescued by the fire services team within a short time.

Emergency Alert at 3:09 AM Triggers Rescue Operation

According to officials, the Kotwali Fire Station received an emergency call at around 3:09 a.m. on Tuesday reporting a fire in a flat with people trapped inside.

Fire officials immediately dispatched two fire tenders from Kotwali Ghantaghar Fire Station, located approximately 8 km away from the incident site.

During transit, rescue teams contacted the trapped residents and instructed them to move to the balcony for safety until help arrived.

Firefighters Rescue Family from Smoke-Filled Balcony

The fire brigade reached SK Homes, a four-story building in Avantika Phase-2, around 3:20 a.m.

The fire had broken out in Flat No. 202 on the third floor, where Pawan Sharma (52), his wife (46), their 20-year-old son, and 18-year-old daughter were trapped in a smoke-filled balcony.

Under the supervision of the Chief Fire Officer, firefighters deployed an extension ladder and safely evacuated all four family members.

Intense Firefighting Operation Launched

Officials said the fire was so severe that entry had to be forced by breaking open the main door of the flat.

Firefighters laid hose lines from both sides of the building to control the blaze, which had engulfed the drawing room, kitchen, storeroom, and one bedroom.

Preliminary assessment suggests that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, possibly originating in the drawing room or near the main entrance.

Three Pet Dogs Died Due to Smoke Inhalation

After extinguishing the fire and completing a search of the premises, officials discovered that three pet dogs belonging to the family had died due to excessive smoke and suffocation inside the flat.

No Injuries Reported; Investigation Underway

Authorities confirmed that no other flats were affected and no human injuries were reported in the incident.

Local police were present at the site during rescue and firefighting operations, and an investigation into the exact cause of the fire is currently underway.
