Massive fire broke out in tent house in Kangra, goods worth Rs 80 lakh gutted

A fire that raged from late Saturday night to Sunday morning in the Fakloh area of ​​the Jwalamukhi subdivision destroyed a family’s years of hard work. The sudden blaze at Mitthu Tent House, run by Samita Chaudhary of Ward No. 1, Jwalamukhi, destroyed goods worth approximately 80 lakh rupees.

The fire was so intense that all the items stored there, including chandeliers, tents, chairs, tables, counters, mats, utensils, and crockery, along with approximately 200 beds, were destroyed.

Samita Chaudhary said she received a call from a stranger at around 5 a.m. on Sunday. When she arrived at the scene, everything had been reduced to ashes. She suspected it could have been the work of miscreants. She explained that someone had previously attempted to set fire to her tent house in Darang, before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the fire was extinguished in time.

As soon as the information was received, a fire brigade team from Jwalamukhi arrived at the scene, but due to low water pressure, the fire could not be controlled. Later, after a lot of effort, a fire brigade team called from Dehra brought the fire under control.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Jwalamukhi MLA Sanjay Ratna also arrived at the scene and assessed the damage. He directed the administration to provide immediate relief and assistance to the affected family.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway. Samita Chaudhary had been running the tent house on her own for the past five years after the death of her husband. She is survived by her 13-year-old son, Geetansh, and 10-year-old daughter, Ruhani. The entire family is deeply shocked by this sudden, devastating loss. Both children broke down in tears after seeing their mother’s grief.

Residents have demanded that the administration provide Samita Chaudhary with immediate financial assistance and rehabilitation during this difficult time so that she can regain control of her life.
