Massive Fire Under Damoria Bridge in Jalandhar: Plume of Smoke Spreads for Several Kilometers

Chaos erupted near Jalandhar’s Damoria Bridge on Thursday evening when a fire suddenly broke out beneath the structure. The blaze was so intense that smoke became visible from several kilometers away. Upon receiving reports of the incident, teams from the police administration and the fire department rushed to the scene and immediately began efforts to bring the fire under control.

According to reports, the fire originated in a pile of garbage and plastic bags. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. According to eyewitnesses, smoke was suddenly seen billowing from beneath the Damoria Bridge, triggering panic throughout the area.

Within moments, the flames intensified, prompting residents and shopkeepers in the vicinity to rush out of their homes and establishments. A thick cloud of smoke engulfed the area, causing breathing difficulties for the people present.
Locals Alert the Fire Department

Local residents immediately alerted the fire department. Residents noted that, despite the fire department’s office being located nearby, it took the fire brigade approximately 25 to 30 minutes to reach the scene. Nevertheless, firefighting operations commenced immediately upon the team’s arrival.

Police Administration Arrives at the Scene

Police personnel from Division No. 3 also arrived at the site. Police officials secured the area and appealed to the public to stay clear of the burning zone. Meanwhile, railway police personnel also reached the spot to assess the situation.

Local resident Charanjit Singh stated that he became aware of the fire after spotting the smoke. He remarked that incidents involving fires breaking out in garbage piles are a frequent occurrence in this area. However, there have been no reports of any casualties resulting from this particular incident.

Currently, teams from the fire department are working continuously to bring the blaze under control. The police administration has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
