Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board: International Museum to be built in Katra; LG seeks public suggestions

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra, plans to establish an International Goddess Museum. LG Manoj Sinha has appealed to the public to offer their suggestions in order to create a unique global spiritual destination.

A notification issued by the Board’s Chairman, LG Sinha, states that suggestions are being sought from devotees and the general public with the aim of making this museum both unique and inclusive. Individuals can share their suggestions via the portal www.smvdsbimog.org.

Taking a significant step towards the establishment of the International Goddess Museum, the Board launched this web portal in February. Its objective is to provide a shared platform for historians, scholars, architects, museum experts, and spiritual seekers from across the globe.

The Board has invited suggestions, thematic proposals, and archival references from experts to finalize the museum’s conceptualization, design, and content.

Objective of Establishing the Museum

According to the Shrine Board, the primary objective of the museum is to systematically preserve the spiritual heritage of *Maa Shakti* (Mother Goddess) alongside imparting spiritual education. This museum will serve as a repository for the *Shakti Peeths* (seats of divine power) of the Mother Goddess. Ancient traditions and folklore will be documented and preserved for posterity. Unique idols of the Goddess associated with each specific *Shakti Peeth* will be installed here.

A Hub for Education, Awareness, and Tourism

Through the use of 3D models, the museum will educate pilgrims about the origin stories of the mythological Shakti Peeths. Efforts will be made to provide them with an immersive virtual experience. The center aims to promote religious tourism by attracting devotees and tourists alike.
