Uttar Pradesh: Ayush, an MBA student who allegedly sold his kidney for money, is currently admitted in the ICU of Hallet Hospital in Kanpur. When police asked him to inform his family, he broke down, held the officers’ feet, and pleaded, “Sir, please don’t tell my mother anything. I came to Kanpur saying I had work.”

Emotional Breakdown and Plea to Police

According to police, Ayush was deeply distressed and repeatedly requested that his family not be informed about the incident. Instead, he arranged to speak with his girlfriend, who lives in Begusarai, Bihar.

When she arrived in Kanpur and met him under police supervision, Ayush became emotional and started crying uncontrollably. Expressing regret, he said, “I made a huge mistake,” while his girlfriend tried to comfort him.

Kidney Sale Linked to Alleged Racket

Ayush, a resident of Samastipur in Bihar, was reportedly trapped by a kidney racket operating in Kanpur. He allegedly sold his kidney after being lured with promises of money. However, when he did not receive the promised payment, he exposed the matter.

Following the surgery, his health remains unstable, and he is under constant medical supervision in the ICU.

Police have so far arrested six individuals in connection with the case and sent them to jail. A lookout notice has been issued for four absconding doctors allegedly linked to the racket. Teams have also been dispatched to Meerut based on key inputs.

Girlfriend Questions His Decision

Ayush’s girlfriend met him in the ICU amid tight security arrangements. Police personnel, including inspectors and officers from Rawatpur police station, were deployed both inside and outside the hospital during the meeting.

Trying to console him, she gently asked, “Why did you donate your kidney?” Ayush responded that he was under financial stress and unable to pay his fees. He said he had been worried for the past two months and was eventually persuaded by a person identified as Shivam Agarwal to undergo the procedure.

The case has raised serious concerns about illegal organ trade networks and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
