MC takes action against Illegal Construction in Ludhiana; shops built after breaking seals

A major crackdown on illegal construction has been reported in Ludhiana. Acting on a complaint filed by the Municipal Corporation, a case has been registered against an individual accused of breaking official seals to construct shops. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Illegal Construction of Shops Within a Residential Area

The complainant, Nirvan—Assistant Town Planner (Zone-B) of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, stated in his complaint to the police that during an inspection conducted on April 16, 2026 (under PGD No. 792991/792768), it was discovered that Manish Kumar had illegally constructed shops within a residential zone in the New Shivaji Nagar area.

Municipal Corporation Had Sealed the Said Shops

It is alleged that the Municipal Corporation had previously placed seals on the aforementioned shops; however, in blatant disregard of the regulations, the accused broke the seals and continued with the construction work. Upon receiving this information, officials visited the site and immediately alerted the police. The accused in this case has been identified as Manish Kumar, a resident of Street No. 4, New Shivaji Nagar, Ludhiana.

Investigation Underway; Police Register Case

The police at Division No. 3 Police Station have registered a case against the accused under Sections 223, 221, and 329 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita). The police have stated that the investigation into the matter is ongoing, and further legal action is being initiated.
