Gurugram Banker Mehak Murdered by Husband with Scissors

Jhajjar (Haryana), Feb 17 — A shocking murder has come to light in Haryana, where a Gurugram‑based banker named Mehak was allegedly killed by her husband, police said on Tuesday. Initial investigation reveals that she was stabbed with scissors, while her spouse tried to mislead investigators by portraying the case as a robbery.

The accused, identified as Anshul Dhawan, a chartered accountant from Hisar, has been arrested by the Badli police and is currently in custody. He eventually confessed to the crime during interrogation after inconsistencies in his statements raised suspicion among officers.

Scissors Used Deliberately; Attempt to Mislead Police

Inspector Suresh Kumar, SHO of Badli Police Station, said Anshul admitted that he brought scissors specifically to commit the murder and even wore gloves to avoid leaving evidence. He initially told police that unknown assailants had attacked the couple, but sustained questioning revealed contradictions, leading to his confession.

Mehak’s body was found near a drain in Pahsor village, while the car the couple was using was recovered from a different location. “The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post‑mortem report,” the SHO added.

Marriage and Motive Under Scrutiny

Police said the couple had been married for just over four months. Mehak worked for a private bank in Gurugram, and Anshul also worked locally as a CA. Family members allege that Anshul had repeatedly raised suspicions about her character, believing she spoke too freely with colleagues, and had harassed her over the issue.

According to the complaint, the couple had left Hisar for Gurugram on the evening of February 15. Anshul’s father alerted the family later that night, claiming an accident had occurred. When relatives reached the scene, they found Mehak lying lifeless with deep injuries to her neck and immediately grew suspicious of Anshul’s account.

Family Alleges Harassment and Threats

Mehak’s brother, Akshay of Hansi, has alleged that the accused frequently harassed her and questioned her behaviour. He also claimed Anshul had threatened to kill her previously, which added weight to police suspicions during investigation.

The murder has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many disturbed by the brutal nature of the crime and the attempt to stage it as an accident or robbery.

Investigation Ongoing

Law enforcement officials say a detailed probe is underway to piece together the exact sequence of events and to collect all evidence, including forensic analysis and cellphone records. The post‑mortem report and further interrogation will be crucial in firming up the charges and motives in the case.
