Rajasthan: Fifteen people were injured when a Tempo Trex minibus overturned on the Bapod–Basni road in Nagaur district around 9 a.m. on Sunday. The passengers were travelling from Bapod to Nagaur to attend a wedding ceremony.
The vehicle lost control and overturned while the driver tried to avoid a stray animal that suddenly appeared near the Basni culvert.
There was panic at the accident site. With the help of local residents, the injured passengers were quickly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Injured Shifted to Basni and JLN Hospitals
After the accident, ambulances and private vehicles were used to take the injured to hospitals. Five people were admitted to Basni Hospital, while ten others were taken to Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital in Nagaur.
Dr. R.K. Agarwal, PMO of JLN Hospital, said the hospital staff was immediately put on alert after receiving information about the accident. Treatment for the injured began as soon as they arrived at the hospital.
Two Critically Injured Referred to Higher Centre
According to doctors, eight of the ten injured people who were brought to JLN Hospital were given first aid and later shifted to the general ward. However, two patients were in serious condition and were referred to a higher medical centre for advanced treatment.
Reports say that five women and some children are also among those injured in the accident.
Passengers Were Relatives Travelling to Attend Wedding
Initial information suggests that all the injured passengers were relatives travelling together from Bapod to Nagaur to attend a wedding ceremony at the Seva Bharti Institute.
A few kilometres before the Basni culvert, a stray animal suddenly came onto the road. The driver tried to turn the vehicle to avoid hitting it, but the minibus went out of control and overturned.
Police Reach Spot, Vehicle Removed from Road
After receiving information about the accident, Sadar police reached the spot and inspected the area. The overturned minibus was later removed from the road to restore smooth traffic movement.
As soon as the news of the accident spread, family members of the injured also rushed to the hospitals to check on their condition.
