Punjab, April 13: In the Haibowal area of ​​Ludhiana, a young man raped a 13-year-old minor girl residing in the neighbourhood. The accused had come to stay at his maternal uncle’s house and committed the crime after finding the girl alone. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the police have registered a case against the accused under various sections, including the POCSO Act.

Accused Intimidated the Child After the Rape

Following the rape, the accused severely intimidated the child, threatening to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone. Exploiting this fear, the accused subsequently engaged in sexual acts with the victim again. When the victim finally mustered the courage to confide in her mother, her family members were left in shock and immediately contacted the police.

Case Registered Against Accused Under POCSO Act

The police have identified the accused as Adarsh. He is originally from Jogipur village in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh and was currently residing with his maternal uncle in Haibowal, Ludhiana. The police have registered a case against the accused under the POCSO Act. The accused has been booked under Section 65 (Rape) and Section 351(2) (Criminal Intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as Section 4 (Sexual Assault on a Minor) of the POCSO Act.

Case Registered Against the Accused

Police officials state that a case has been registered against the accused, and raids are being conducted to effect his arrest. The victim has undergone a medical examination, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
