Rajasthan: Questions were raised in the Rajasthan Assembly regarding the land of the Balotra-based MBR Government PG College. Barmer Baytu MLA Harish Chaudhary stated that allocating playground land to government offices would negatively impact the future of students. He demanded the college’s land be kept intact through an adjournment motion.
How much land is being allocated?
According to the MLA, out of the college’s total approximately 85 bighas of land, approximately 29 bighas have been proposed or allocated for government use.
Of this, 24 bighas is located within the college campus boundary wall, which was reserved for a playground.
The remaining 5 bighas is located outside the campus, near the road.
Impact on Students and the Future
Harish Chaudhary stated that this matter concerns the education of thousands of students, their future, and regional educational development.
College land is not only needed for current needs, but is also essential for future student growth, new faculty, modern labs, expansion of sports facilities, an NCC unit, and employment-oriented courses.
Protests and Demands
The MLA stated that the selection of the college campus in Balotra, despite the availability of other government land, is concerning.
Students are continuously protesting against this decision, leading to tensions in the area.
Harish Chaudhary appealed to the government to reconsider the decision in the best interests of students and to issue instructions to preserve the entire college land as it is.
