New Delhi, March 3, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted how Indian companies investing in clean and green energy stand to benefit from shifting global supply chains gaining access to broader and more lucrative international markets.
Addressing stakeholders and business leaders, the Prime Minister underscored that India’s growing clean energy ecosystem including renewable power, green fuels, and low-carbon technologies is increasingly integrated with global value chains, presenting new opportunities for exports and strategic partnerships.
Modi noted that as global supply chains are being reconfigured driven by decarbonization, geopolitical shifts, and investment realignment Indian firms that have bet on clean energy are best positioned to capitalize on these changes.
The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect a broader government strategy to elevate India as a key global supplier of clean energy solutions — from solar infrastructure and green hydrogen to renewable technologies adding that “our focus on sustainable growth makes Indian enterprises attractive to markets worldwide.”
He said that the impetus for climate action globally is not only a moral imperative, but also a commercial opportunity for Indian businesses capable of producing competitive, environmentally sound energy products and services.
India has made remarkable strides in clean energy capacity particularly in renewable electricity such as solar and wind and is emerging as a significant player on the global stage. Recent data show that record renewable capacity additions have bolstered the country’s credentials as one of the fastest-growing clean energy markets in the world.
These gains have been matched by strong interest from foreign investors and trade partners. For example, India and several nations are increasingly forging energy cooperation agreements, strengthening trade links for strategic materials and technologies critical to green manufacturing.
The government has emphasized structural reforms and incentives to attract private capital into the green energy segment. Policies such as production-linked incentives (PLI), clean energy corridors, green hydrogen initiatives, and manufacturing support schemes aim to reduce costs, improve quality, and deepen India’s participation in global value chains.
Encouragingly, international trade agreements such as the recently concluded India–European Union Free Trade Agreement are expected to further open markets for Indian clean energy products by reducing trade barriers and enhancing mutual market access for high-tech green goods.
“Indian firms are not only meeting the energy demands of a green future at home but are now poised to be partners to the world in the clean energy revolution,” Modi said, reflecting India’s strategic blend of domestic energy expansion and export ambition.
The Prime Minister’s remarks coincided with renewed international engagements that underscore clean energy cooperation. India and Canada, for instance, recently launched an energy partnership with significant agreements on critical minerals and renewable cooperation, further enhancing clean tech market connections.
Similarly, India’s collaborations across regions from South Asia to Europe and North America signal expanding opportunities for Indian firms to participate in cross-border energy infrastructure, technology transfers, and joint market ventures.
Experts suggest that India’s clean energy trajectory positions the country to benefit from growing global demand for sustainable energy solutions. With deliberate policy backing, skilled workforce, and rising investment, Indian firms are expected to gain a competitive edge in global supply networks not just as exporters, but as innovators and strategic partners in the energy transition.
As global energy markets continue their transformation toward net-zero emissions, India’s role particularly in renewable generation, energy storage, and green fuels is projected to gain further prominence, unlocking new markets and economic opportunities.
