    Modi Targets Opposition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects in Vadodara, Gujarat, as part of the Namo for Vikasit Bharat program. He launched development projects worth Rs 35,000 crore. During the program, he sarcastically targeted the opposition, especially Rahul Gandhi. Currently, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is running a program called “Chhatraon Ki Goonj” to communicate with the general public. The goal is to attract the youth power of the country, as witnessed at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, to his party. This is also the purpose of Rahul Gandhi’s “Chhatraon Ki Goonj” program. In it, he attempts to attract students by portraying declared successes as failures. Prime Minister Modi, on Tuesday, quipped, “This is not the echo of students, but the echo of lies.” He said, “We have inaugurated development projects worth Rs 35,000 crore to transform the country, businesses, and freight transportation. These projects include a 2,800-kilometer-long dedicated freight corridor.” Modi said that on this corridor, a double-stack freight train recently transported cargo equivalent to more than 250 trucks in a single trip from Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Vadodara. Modi said, “These achievements of the country will never be welcomed by the angry uncle who joined the celebration of our success.” He said that what we have achieved through these projects and freight corridors is significant because they will reduce transportation costs, increase mobility, and facilitate integration. It is also clear that mobility is a powerful tool for production and investment, meaning delivering goods to as many markets as possible at the lowest cost. This 2,800-kilometer-long freight corridor will accomplish just that.” He then added that opponents will now cry foul, claiming that this plan directly threatens the livelihoods of truck drivers. If the cargo of 250 trucks is lost in a single trip, what will happen to those who buy trucks? What Modi means is that even if we bring down the stars from the sky for India’s progress, critics will still find some flaw. For example, here we are talking about increasing mobility, reducing transportation costs, and creating more profit opportunities so that economic development in the country does not stagnate and the country continues to move forward even in adverse conditions. He is referring to the 7.8 percent growth rate we achieved in the first quarter of 2026-27. His point was that when even those criticizing that progress aren’t stopping, how could an angry uncle spare the development of this corridor? He said, “Come and criticize it unnecessarily.” He also made it clear that he wasn’t intimidated by such criticism. He said, “Nothing will be allowed to stand in the way of the country’s progress.” If we assess the steps taken towards progress in the country, we find that there isn’t a single progressive step that hasn’t been criticized by the opposition. Another bitterness that has arisen in the changing political climate is that serious criticism or reflection is replaced by low-level taunting. The level of accusations and counter-accusations has plummeted. The dignified exchange of views between the ruling party and the opposition is perhaps a thing of the past.
