The attack took place on February 10 when three motorcycle-borne men allegedly opened fire on seven to eight labourers from Bihar near a rice sheller. The workers were returning to their rented accommodations during the peak paddy processing season.
The sudden gunfire caused panic among thousands of migrant labourers employed in the district.
