5 Kg heroin seized in Moga as police bust cross-border drug smuggling module

Moga: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Moga Police, in an intelligence-led operation, busted a drug trafficking module, arrested three smugglers and recovered 5 kg of heroin from their possession.

The operation conducted by the Moga Police team is being considered a significant step in curbing cross-border drug trafficking in Punjab.

Foreign links under investigation

According to initial investigations, the arrested accused were in direct contact with foreign smugglers, indicating a strong cross-border network. Police sources indicated that the smuggling module had been operational for some time and was actively coordinating with handlers outside India.

FIR registered, nexus being investigated

An FIR has been registered at Moga’s Sadar police station, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are now working to identify the network’s back and forth links, including local distributors and foreign contacts.

DGP Gaurav Yadav shared the incident via social media, saying:

“In an intelligence-led operation, Moga Police busted a drug trafficking module and arrested three smugglers, out of which 5 kg of heroin was recovered. The accused were in direct contact with foreign smugglers, indicating a strong nexus across the border. Investigations are underway to expose the entire network.”

The seizure comes amid increasing efforts by Punjab Police to crack down on drug trafficking, especially in border districts where smuggling networks often operate with international support.
