Bomb Threat to Mohali Court via Email; Public Entry Restricted, Only Accused and Petitioners Allowed

Mohali: The Mohali Court in Punjab has received a threat to blow up the premises. The threat was conveyed via an official email. In view of security concerns, the District and Sessions Judge has issued strict orders with immediate effect. As a security measure, the entry of the general public into the court complex has been prohibited.

Only litigants and accused persons will be permitted to enter the court complex. This order shall remain applicable not only to the SAS Nagar (Mohali) Judicial Court Complex but also to the court complexes located in the Kharar and Dera Bassi sub-divisions.

Threat Letter Received on June 1st

This threatening email was received on June 1, 2026, warning of a bomb blast within the court complex between June 3 and June 5, 2026. As a precautionary measure, the District Judge has imposed a complete ban on the entry of the general public.

Consequently, only accused persons and petitioners directly involved in cases will now be granted entry into the court complex. This rule will apply equally to the main Mohali Court as well as the courts situated in the Kharar and Dera Bassi sub-divisions.

Police Launch Verification Drive

As part of robust security arrangements, strict instructions have been issued to security personnel stationed at entry points to conduct thorough and intensive checks of every visitor. Police officials have initiated a comprehensive search and “sanitization” (security sweep) process across the entire court complex.

The order explicitly states that court proceedings will not resume as usual until the Police Department issues a complete security clearance. Furthermore, all judicial officers and their Personal Security Officers (PSOs) have been instructed to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious objects or activities.
