Mohali court frames charges against former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, son Gurpreet Singh

The case registered by the ED against former Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, his sons Harpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh, for conspiring to buy a plot for Rs 60 lakh and sell it for only Rs 25 lakh on the same day was heard in the court of the Additional District Sessions Judge. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and son Gurpreet appeared in the court. The court has framed charges against both of them as accused, while the other son, Harpreet Singh, has already been declared a fugitive by the court.

Case by Vigilance Bureau 

According to the information, the Vigilance had already registered a case number-6 under Section 13(1), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Mohali police station. During the investigation of this case, it was found that Raj Kumar Nagpal, a resident of Sector-8, Panchkula, had purchased a plot in Sector-88, Mohali, against the LOI.

It was purchased from Gurminder Singh Gill, resident of Mohali, on 27 November 2018 for Rs 60 lakh through a stamp, while on the same day, by purchasing another stamp in the same stamp series, Raj Kumar sold the same plot to Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, son of former Forest Minister Harpreet Singh for about Rs 35 lakh and sold it for only Rs 25 lakh under a conspiracy. At the time of the purchase and sale of this plot, Rajesh Kumar Chopra, resident of Sector-82, Mohali, signed as a witness.

During the vigilance investigation, it was also found that out of this amount of Rs 60 lakh, Rs 22 lakh 50 thousand had already been deposited in Raj Kumar’s account by Rajesh Kumar Chopra, proprietor of Anmol Umpire Private Limited, Rs 25 lakh by Harpreet Singh, son of Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, and Rs 12 lakh 10 thousand by others.

This LOI from Raj Kumar Sarpanch, Property Dealer, Jujhar Nagar, Mohali, has played an important role in getting Harpreet Singh. The plot has been transferred in the name of the said Harpreet Singh. Therefore, Sections-420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B and Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act have been added to the current case. In this case of Vigilance, ED has registered a separate case and started investigation and registered a case.
