Mohali: Fortis Hospital Mohali, where Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is admitted, received a bomb threat email at 1:11 p.m. along with similar threats sent to 16 schools across Mohali, leading authorities to declare a sudden holiday for the schools.

Contents of Threat Email

The threatening email claims that CM Bhagwant Mann has been poisoned with polonium by the heirs of his brother, Dilawar Singh. The message warns that if the CM survives, he will be treated like the late former Punjab CM Beant Singh, who was assassinated in a human bomb attack in 1995. The email also urges urgent protection of children, mentioning school closures and demanding immediate attention.

Security Measures and School Holiday

Punjab Police and intelligence agencies have cordoned off Fortis Hospital and deployed five bomb disposal squads to conduct thorough checks. Mohali Superintendent of Police Dilpreet Singh confirmed that there are no plans to shift the Chief Minister to another hospital yet. Security has been tightened around the hospital and at the affected schools.

Following the threats, 16 schools in Mohali were evacuated and declared closed for the day as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The school principal immediately informed the police after receiving the threat. As a precaution, the school was immediately evacuated and all children were safely evacuated. Police, bomb squad, and dog squad teams arrived at the scene and launched an intensive search operation.
