Mohali Youth Murder Case: Three arrested by Police, one at large

In the Peer Muchalla area of ​​Mohali district, a young man was beaten to death following a personal feud. During the assault, the victim was struck with iron rods and sticks; he subsequently succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Now, in the development, the police have arrested three accused in this case.

In his statement, 19-year-old Anand recounted that the incident occurred on the night of March 17, around 12:30 AM. Anand was on his way along with his uncle, Sumit Kumar, and some friends. Near the Kali Mata Temple, Himanshu, Deepanshu, Ashu, and Abhimanyu arrived, accompanied by 7-8 accomplices. They were armed with iron rods and sticks.

Incident Stemmed from a Dispute on Holi

The police have registered a case against the named accused under various sections of the law, including murder. The investigation revealed that the crime was a consequence of a dispute that had taken place on the day of Holi.

The police have arrested three of the accused in connection with this case. The prime accused, Abhimanyu, remains at large, and a search for him is currently underway.

Attack Launched After Verbal Abuse

The accused surrounded the four individuals while hurling verbal abuses at them, and then launched their attack. The other young men managed to flee to safety, but the accused overpowered Sumit Kumar.

They knocked him to the ground and inflicted multiple blows to his head, chest, arms, and legs. He was beaten with sticks and dragged along the ground, sustaining severe injuries in the process. The attackers also prevented Sumit’s companions from intervening to save him.

Following the assault, the accused fled the scene. The critically injured Sumit was initially taken to the Government Hospital in Dhakoli. From there, he was referred to GMCH Sector-32, Chandigarh, and subsequently to PGI. He passed away around 1:00 AM on the night of March 19 while undergoing medical treatment.
