Mohan Bhagwat to visit US, UK, Canada to counter misconceptions about India, Hindus and RSS

Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to visit the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as part of the organisation’s global outreach during its centenary year, with the tour aimed at countering misconceptions and what the RSS describes as propaganda regarding India, Hindus and the Sangh.

RSS Joint General Secretary C.R. Mukund announced the proposed visit on Friday while briefing the media after the three-day All India Coordination Meeting of the RSS and its affiliated organisations concluded at Gudilova near Visakhapatnam.

Bhagwat’s three key objectives

Mukund said the visit has three primary objectives. The first is to present what the RSS considers a factual and positive perspective on India, Hindu society and the organisation amid what it described as misconceptions and propaganda prevalent globally.

The second objective is to convey the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, or the idea that the world is one family, to diverse communities.

The third objective is to promote dialogue with mainstream societies in the three countries on the interests and rights of Hindus and people of Indian origin living there.

Bhagwat is scheduled to participate in the ‘Universal Oneness’ programme in New York, besides community leadership events in Toronto and London.

RSS meeting reviews organisational work

The RSS meeting was attended by Bhagwat, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, BJP President Nitin Nabin and senior office-bearers of the RSS and organisations inspired by it.

Of the 326 delegates invited to the three-day meeting, 306, including 49 women, participated.

Mukund said discussions covered the prevailing situation in the country and society, activities undertaken by affiliated organisations, their experiences, future challenges and action plans.

The meeting also reviewed relief and rehabilitation efforts carried out during natural disasters, including assistance provided during the severe floods in Assam by organisations such as Rashtriya Seva Bharati, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, National Medicos Organisation, Arogya Bharati and the BJP.

Focus on self-reliant development, family and environment

The meeting also discussed a development model rooted in an Indian perspective, with emphasis on self-reliance, environmental sustainability and inclusion.

Mukund said more than 41,000 people received skill training during the year through skill development centres operated by Laghu Udyog Bharati in the micro-industry sector.

A special discussion was held on ‘Panch Parivartan’, the Sangh’s initiative for societal transformation, with focus on strengthening family values, cultural traditions and the Indian family system under ‘Kutumb Prabodhan’.

Environmental conservation was also discussed, with emphasis on responsible water use, reducing plastic consumption and increasing green cover through changes in everyday lifestyles.

RSS discusses impact of AI on society

The growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on society also featured in the deliberations.

Mukund said the discussions examined both the potential benefits of AI and the challenges associated with its growing use. Participants stressed the need to view the technology through an Indian and social perspective and explore ways to use it for the wider benefit of society.

Plans were also discussed to expand activities undertaken by 32 Sangh-inspired organisations and extend their work across different sections of society during the coming year.
