Former minister Dharamsot’s son declared fugitive in money laundering case

Jalandhar, August 1: The special court of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has declared Harpreet Singh, son of former forest minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, a fugitive (proclaimed offender) in the 2024 money laundering (PMLA) case. The court has also sought details of Harpreet Singh’s properties so that attachment proceedings can be initiated under Section 83 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

According to the court order, a Proclamation was made against the accused Harpreet Singh, son of Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, on 28 March 2025. He has not appeared in court till now. The statutory period of 30 days has expired; hence, the accused is declared a criminal. Necessary information should be sent to the concerned police station.

Notices posted at homes and public places

A copy of the court order was pasted at Harpreet Singh’s house, Ward No. 6, Annneh Road, Amloh, Fatehgarh Sahib. One copy was put up at a public place, and the third copy was put up on the notice board of Mohali Court. Former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was arrested by the ED in 2024 in a PMLA case.

It is alleged that he did money laundering of crores of rupees through corruption and illegal earnings in the forest department. At present, Dharamsot is out on bail in this case. The court has fixed the next hearing of the case for August 19. Let us tell you that Dharamsot was arrested by the Jalandhar ED.

Dharamsot was a minister in Captain Amarinder’s cabinet

However, in the year 2017, when the Congress government was formed under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was made the Forest Minister. At the same time, the Social Welfare Department was also with him.

After this, as soon as the AAP government came, the Vigilance Bureau started an investigation against him. Along with this, a scam of crores of rupees came to light in the forest department. After this, the Vigilance Bureau arrested him on June 7, 2022. Whereas the ED had investigated on the basis of this FIR. He was arrested by the ED on January 16, 2024.
