Light rain likely in some parts of Punjab; monsoon to return by Sept 20

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is expected in several districts of Punjab today. According to reports, scattered rain is possible in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, and Mohali. In addition, isolated areas of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala may also experience drizzle or light rain.

The Meteorological Department stated that this rain will provide some relief from the humid heat. However, strong winds are also likely in some areas during the rain. The monsoon will completely withdraw from Punjab by September 20th. As it departs, it will pass through the central parts of the state, which may cause moderate rain in some districts today and tomorrow.

Temperatures will drop, providing relief from humidity

The rain may provide some relief to farmers. Regarding temperatures, Mansa recorded a maximum of 37.1 degrees Celsius, while Pathankot recorded a minimum of 24.8 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department stated that the rain will bring a slight drop in temperatures and provide relief from the humid heat. However, no warning has been issued for heavy rain or storms during this period.

Water levels of all rivers are decreasing.

The rain will bring a cool breeze to the atmosphere, and the weather is expected to remain pleasant. People will also experience some relief in commuting, as the increased heat and humidity of the past few days have been troubling them.

Meanwhile, due to reduced rainfall in the mountains, the water levels of rivers in Punjab are steadily decreasing, and the situation is gradually returning to normal. The cleanliness drive launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuing in every village.
