Union Minister of State for Railways & Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu announced that Mohali is set to become a major semiconductor manufacturing hub, thanking Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, for his support in making this possible.
In a significant development, Continental Device India Ltd (CDIL) will be expanding its dedicated semiconductor manufacturing facility in Mohali, Punjab. The upgraded facility will produce high-power differential semiconductor devices in both silicon and silicon carbide technologies. These will include MOSFETs, IGBTs, Schottky bypass diodes, and transistors.
After expansion, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 158.38 million units. The devices will cater to a wide range of applications, including:
Automotive electronics – particularly for electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging infrastructure, Renewable and energy storage systems, Power conversion solutions and Industrial electronics.
