Moving Scorpio catches fire in Jalandhar; driver charred to death

A Scorpio caught fire while in motion in Jalandhar, resulting in the driver being burned to death inside the vehicle. Bystanders attempted to extinguish the flames and rescue the driver, but the fire was so intense that the fire brigade had to be summoned.

Upon extinguishing the fire, police and fire brigade teams discovered the driver’s charred body inside. The vehicle bore a Kapurthala registration number. The police have taken the burnt body and the vehicle into custody and have initiated an investigation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the Scorpio’s doors locked automatically as soon as the fire broke out, preventing the driver from escaping. Police are actively investigating the matter.

According to the police, they received information that a Scorpio had caught fire while moving near a pond located in the fields of Pholriwal. Locals rushed to the scene and tried to douse the flames but were unsuccessful, prompting them to call the police and the fire brigade. When the police arrived, they found the vehicle’s number plate burnt. While it was determined that the Scorpio bore a Kapurthala registration number, the police have not yet officially confirmed this detail.

Difficulty in Identifying the Body
Police stated that the deceased’s body is severely charred. Due to the intensity of the fire, no items were recovered from the vehicle that could aid in identification. Consequently, the police are now attempting to trace the vehicle’s owner to help identify the person who perished in the fire.
