MP MLA Rajendra Bharti Disqualified Following Conviction in Criminal Case

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Secretariat has announced the disqualification of Rajendra Bharti, the MLA from the 22-Datia constituency, following a conviction in a criminal case.

According to the official notification published in the Madhya Pradesh Rajpatra, Bharti was found guilty by a special judge in New Delhi under case number SC-06-2025. He has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment and fined ₹1 lakh.

The notification cites the Supreme Court’s previous directive from July 10, 2013, and the provisions of Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. As a result, Bharti’s membership in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been terminated effective April 2, 2026, leaving the Datia seat vacant.

The Assembly Secretariat confirmed that the disqualification has been formalized, and the election commission will take necessary steps to fill the vacancy.
