Punjab: Member of Parliament Vikramjit Singh Sahney has announced that he will take responsibility for the education and upbringing of the two children of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, who was brutally murdered.
Expressing deep anguish over Jhota’s killing, Sahney extended his condolences to the bereaved family and said he would ensure that the children’s education continues and their future remains secure despite the loss of their father.
“As a humble tribute to his courage and sacrifice, I take responsibility for the education and upbringing of his two children,” Sahney said in a statement shared on social media.
Calls for Continued Fight Against Drugs
Emphasising the need to continue the campaign against drugs in Punjab, Sahney said the killing should not weaken efforts to protect the state’s youth from drug abuse.
“Punjab is bleeding, and the fight against drugs must not falter,” he said, adding that silencing an individual would not end the mission.
Sahney said the fight to save Punjab’s youth would continue with greater determination. His statement was also shared in connection with the work of the Sun Foundation and the World Punjabi Organization.
The announcement highlights support for Jhota’s family as calls for action against the drug menace in Punjab continue.
