Multilingual AI Agriculture Tool Launched for Farmers in Budget

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 on Sunday, announced the launch of a multilingual artificial intelligence (AI) agriculture tool aimed at helping farmers make better decisions, increase productivity, and reduce risks in farming activities. The tool is designed to provide customized agricultural advisories in multiple Indian languages, strengthening support available to farmers nationwide.

The platform, named Bharat VISTAAR, is part of the government’s broader effort to leverage digital technologies and AI solutions within the agricultural sector. It will be integrated with India’s existing Agri-digital infrastructure (Agri-stack) to offer real-time, tailored guidance on crop cycles, weather patterns, market insights, pest management, and other farm-related concerns.

The newly proposed tool will include the following key features:

This initiative is part of the government’s effort to modernize agriculture and empower farmers with technology that improves decision-making and productivity, particularly for small and marginal farmers who may lack access to rural advisory services.
