Mumbai Road Dispute: Yusuf Pathan’s Father-in-Law Among 3 Arrested

Mumbai: Yusuf Pathan’s relatives, including his father-in-law, have been arrested in connection with an alleged assault case. Officials said on Tuesday that the dispute began after a passing car splashed water.

According to police, the father-in-law of the former cricketer and Trinamool Congress MP was arrested on Monday along with his son and another relative. The three are alleged to have attacked a man and his family in Mumbai’s Byculla area.

Assault Incident in Byculla

According to officials at the Byculla police station, three accused have been detained, while a search is underway for the fourth. The case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to police, the incident occurred around 9 pm on Saturday night when Yusuf Khan (30) was returning home. When their car went through a pothole on the road, water splashed onto Shoaib Khan (35).

Argument escalates after altercation

Yusuf Khan told police that he immediately stopped the car and apologized, but Shoaib allegedly began abusing him and broke the car window with a bamboo stick. He then assaulted Yusuf Khan, causing injuries.

After arriving home, Yusuf’s family advised him to file a police complaint.

Attack again, several injured

While on his way to the police station, Yusuf Khan encountered Khalid Khan alias ‘Makaalik’ (Yusuf Pathan’s father-in-law). His son, Umarsad Pathan (35), Shoaib Pathan, and another accused, Shahbaz Pathan, were also present.

According to investigators, a second altercation ensued, and the accused attacked him with bamboo sticks and a baseball bat. Yusuf Khan’s brother, Salman, suffered a broken arm, while his uncle, Zaki Ahmed, sustained serious injuries.

According to the police, Shahbaz Pathan is absconding, while the other three accused were arrested and produced in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.

Identification based on CCTV and witness testimony

Police stated that the action was taken based on CCTV footage, witness statements, and recovered weapons. The investigation revealed that the accused were clearly identified through CCTV footage and eyewitness testimony.
