Kapurthala: In the village of Ghugg Bet in Kapurthala, a young man killed his cousin during a minor dispute on Sunday. While riding a bike, they got into an argument over something. In a fit of anger, the young man stabbed his cousin three to four times in the chest with a dagger, causing his immediate death.
Subsequently, the accused fled the scene. The police at Thana Kotwali swiftly solved the murder case within three hours, apprehended the accused youth, and recovered the dagger used in the murder.
SHO Lakhwinder Singh of Thana Kotwali said that on Sunday afternoon at around 1 o’clock, information was received about the murder of 25-year-old Manroop Singh resident of village Hothiyan with a sharp weapon in village Ghugg Bet. The police registered a case of murder and started tracing the incident.
On receiving the information of the murder, a team was formed under the supervision of SP Investigation Sarabjit Rai and DSP Investigation Gurmeet Singh and investigation was started. SHO said that by connecting the evidence found in the murder case, police reached the accused Harpreet Singh resident of Kotla Heran within three hours and arrested him.
According to SHO, Harpreet Singh said that he and Manroop are cousins. Both of them were going from Bhawanipur to village Khukharain on a bike. Both of them had an argument over something and Harpreet got angry and attacked Manroop three-four times on his chest with the sword he was wearing. Due to which he died on the spot. SHO said that no old rivalry or dispute has come to light in this case. The sword used in the murder has been recovered from the accused and interrogation is going on.
