Two held at illegal liquor party in Muzaffarpur raid

In a crackdown on prohibition violations, Bihar Police arrested two individuals during a raid on an illegal liquor party in Muzaffarpur district. The operation also led to the rescue of three women who were allegedly brought in to perform at the gathering.

The arrested individuals include a local chowkidar (village-level security personnel), raising serious questions about the involvement of grassroots officials in unlawful activities. The raid was conducted following a tip-off about illegal liquor consumption and a party being organised in violation of the state’s strict prohibition laws.

Liquor ban violations continue despite strict laws

Bihar has enforced a complete ban on alcohol since 2016, making the sale, consumption, and possession of liquor illegal. Despite stringent provisions and regular crackdowns, incidents of illegal liquor trade and consumption continue to surface across the state.

Police officials stated that liquor bottles and other incriminating materials were recovered from the spot. The accused were found consuming alcohol during the raid, directly violating the Bihar Excise Act.

Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against those involved in such illegal activities, especially when government-linked individuals are found complicit.

Three women rescued from the party venue

During the operation, police also rescued three women who were reportedly brought in to entertain guests at the party. Officials confirmed that the women were safely taken into custody and will be provided necessary support and assistance.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the women may have been hired as dancers for the event. Police are probing whether they were brought willingly or under coercion, and whether a larger network is involved in organising such gatherings.

The rescue highlights concern about exploitation and the use of vulnerable individuals in illegal party circuits operating in parts of Bihar.

Chowkidar’s role raises serious concerns

One of the arrested individuals being a chowkidar has drawn particular attention, as such personnel are expected to assist local authorities in maintaining law and order. His alleged involvement in organising or participating in the illegal party has raised questions about accountability at the grassroots level.

Officials have indicated that departmental action may also be initiated against the chowkidar, in addition to criminal proceedings under relevant laws.

Ongoing investigation into wider network

Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify others involved in organising the party. Authorities suspect that such events may be part of a larger illegal network dealing in liquor supply and entertainment activities despite the prohibition.
