Nafisa Ali Reveals She Worked Through Stage 3 Cancer, Now Battling Stage 4: ‘You Never Know When Something Goes Wrong’

Mumbai: Veteran actress Nafisa Ali has spoken candidly about her ongoing battle with cancer, revealing that she continued working on the film Max, Min and Meowzaki while undergoing treatment for Stage 3 cancer. She also shared that her cancer has now progressed to Stage 4, but her commitment to meaningful cinema remains unchanged.

Speaking to IANS, Nafisa said filmmaker Padmakumar Narasimhamurthy (Paddy) believed in her at a time when she doubted herself due to her health.

“Actually, it is Paddy’s belief in me that I could play this character. Because I was questioning myself. At that point in my life, I was battling Stage 3 cancer. Today, I am battling Stage 4 cancer,” she said.

‘Films Should Leave a Message for Society’

The veteran actress said she accepted the project because it carries an important message about compassion, responsibility and caring for one another.

She stressed that life is unpredictable and people should focus on supporting each other rather than asking, “Why me?” when faced with adversity.

“You never know when something goes wrong. We have to take care of each other. It is our moral responsibility. Today I am here. Who knows what will happen tomorrow? Fight the good fight, but honestly,” she said.

According to Nafisa, cinema should do more than entertain—it should inspire future generations and encourage meaningful conversations about humanity and collective responsibility.

    Cancer Relapsed After Earlier Recovery

Nafisa Ali had previously battled Stage 3 cancer and successfully recovered. However, a few months ago, she revealed that the disease had relapsed and progressed to Stage 4.

Despite her health challenges, the actress has continued to inspire fans by sharing updates about her treatment, resilience and positive outlook on social media.

Known for her work in films such as Junoon, Major Saab, Bewafaa, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Life in a… Metro, Nafisa Ali has long been admired for her grace, courage and outspoken personality.

Her latest remarks have once again highlighted her determination to continue working and using cinema as a platform to spread hope, empathy and social awareness.
