Nagar Kirtan Reaches Jalandhar for Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th Martyrdom Anniversary; Traffic Diversions Announced

Jalandhar: The Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji started from Gurdaspur and reached Jalandhar late on Thursday night. In Jalandhar, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal welcomed it. The Kirtan entered Jalandhar via Kartarpur Road via Kapurthala at around 1 am.

11 routes changed, half-day holiday declared in schools and colleges

The Jalandhar Traffic Police has changed 11 routes keeping in view the route of the Nagar Kirtan. The administration has declared half-day holiday in schools and colleges to ensure security and order.

Public representatives and officials paid tributes

In Pattar Kalan village of Kartarpur, MLA Balkar Singh, SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban) Jasbir Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural) Navdeep Kaur along with a large number of devotees paid homage on the road and paid tributes.

“Guru Sahib’s life guides humanity”

On this occasion, MLA Balkar Singh paid tribute to the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and said that the life and philosophy of Guru Sahib guide all humanity. He said that the ninth Guru sacrificed his life to protect humanity and religious freedom, an example of which is not found anywhere in the world. He is the best symbol of brotherhood and unity.

The MLA said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Sahib Ji is being celebrated with the spirit of service. The main objective of these events is to make people aware of the great life, philosophy, sacrifice and message of humanity of Guru Sahib.

Next stage: Sri Anandpur Sahib

The Nagri Kirtan, which started from Gurdaspur on November 22, will proceed from Jalandhar to Sri Anandpur Sahib via Phagwara, Banga, Nawanshahr and Balachaur. The Punjab government will convene a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha outside Chandigarh on November 24 for the first time at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

The government has appealed to the Sangat to attend the martyrdom commemorations to be held at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25, 2025.

Detailed route of Nagar Kirtan from Jalandhar

ADC Jasbir Singh said that the Kirtan stopped at Gurdwara Dera Santgarh Sahib on Friday night. On November 22, it will pass through Kapurthala Chowk, Patel Chowk, Basti Adda Chowk, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, Dr. B. R. It will proceed towards Phagwara via Ambedkar Chowk, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, BMC Chowk, Ladowali Road, PAP Chowk, Rama Mandi Chowk and Haveli Point. The Nagar Kirtan will also be given a guard of honour at Guru Nanak Mission Chowk.
