Nagaur explosives case: NIA court hearing, 4 arrested

In Nagaur, the NIA has completed its investigation in the case of 10 tons of explosives found on January 25. Now, the NIA is preparing to conduct the case in court. In this context, the NIA team reached Budhar at the collectorate and began the process.

It is being reported that the NIA is preparing to file charges against four accused, including Suleman Khan.

In Harsaur of Thawala police station area, 9,550 kilograms of ammonium nitrate were found stored in 187 sacks on January 24. Suleman Khan (50) was arrested at the spot. He is a resident of Harsaur and already has three cases registered against him.

After interrogation, the SIT has arrested licensed magazine operators Bharat Kumar (Nagaur), Devraj Medtiya (Butati, Nagaur), and Mahendra Pal Singh (Kadela, Nagaur), Bansilal Banjara (Bassi, Chittorgarh).

About 10 tons of ammonium nitrate, 8750 detonators, and 18000 meters of fuse wire were seized in a raid. The investigation of this serious matter related to national security was entrusted to the NIA on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

    A four-member team reached Nagaur

Late Tuesday evening, a four-member NIA team reached Nagaur district headquarters in a confidential manner. Since Wednesday morning, the team has been stationed at the Collectorate office.

During this day-long operation, the team was engaged in the paperwork process to obtain the necessary legal approvals from the District Magistrate under the Explosives Act.

Only after completing the process of obtaining prosecution approval from the Collectorate will the NIA present a charge sheet in the NIA court with all the evidence in the case, the FSL report, and the statements of the accused.

Revelations also came out during the SIT investigation

The SIT investigation revealed that the accused, Devraj Medtiya, ran the supply chain from behind the scenes by becoming a nursing staff member after surrendering his license. Meanwhile, Bansilal Banjara, Mahendra Pal, and Bharat, residents of Chittorgarh, were illegally selling explosives to Suleman by misusing their licenses.

Suleman would buy explosives from these suppliers at a lower price and then sell them illegally further. Once approval is obtained from the District Magistrate, the NIA will present the chargesheet in court along with the evidence and FSL report.

This was the network: Devraj became a nursing worker, Suleman was the mastermind

The accused, Devraj Mertia, surrendered the license 2 years ago and became a nursing worker in Kuchera. But, he was running the supply chain from behind the scenes.

Bansilal Banjara, a resident of Chittorgarh (with a 3000-tonne magazine), along with Mahendrapal and Bharat, were illegally selling gunpowder to Suleman by misusing their licenses.

Suleman Khan used to take gunpowder from these suppliers at a lower price and sell it further.

Actually, under the Explosive Substances Act, the permission of the government or the competent authority (District Magistrate) is mandatory for the central investigating agency before starting a court trial on any accused. The NIA assessed the nature and danger of gunpowder.

On the basis of evidence, permission is now being taken from the District Magistrate to run the case. As soon as the approval is received, the NIA will be able to file a charge sheet legally in the court.
